Lays Oven Baked Barbecue

Thursday, 17 June 2010 05:41 by nico

One year ago we reviewed the Pringles Texas BBQ Sauce and Kettle Honey Barbecue chips and today we’ve found the brand new Lays Oven Baked Barbecue flavour !

The “Oven Baked” range of chips are known for their low amount of fat, which is of course healthier, so you can eat more of them (and without having greasy fingers !)

Lays Baked Barbecue

The inside of the package reveals a smokey smell of paprika which makes us think to a barbecue in the garden during a sunny day Cool

They also taste like paprika chips, but again with a distinctive smokey flavour… in short, a very good choice for the aperitif !

A spicy blog

Saturday, 29 May 2010 06:41 by nico

I’ve just came across the really nice blog of sauce-piquante.fr (a spicy and bbq sauce retailer who ships to France, Belgium, Luxemburg and Switzerland… that’s interesting !).

The blog features sauce reviews, recipes and facts about spicy sauce.
It has lots of content and a nice layout (it makes me think that I really should improve the design of this blog) but it’s only available in french.

Check it out ! http://www.sauce-piquante.fr/blog/

Tiptree Barbecue Sauce

Thursday, 27 May 2010 06:06 by nico

A new sauce to taste, finally !

By seeing the bottle and label, we instantly noticed that this English sauce would be really different from what we’re used to taste and buy.

Tiptree Barbecue Sauce
The glass bottle lets you see the sauce’s deep red colour and by flipping it, it becomes clear that the sauce is mainly made of tomato puree.

The label at the back is as simple as the front one, showing the list of ingredients… and no sign of preservatives, modified corn starch, artificial colors and flavors etc.. All natural and GMO free !

Opening the bottle reveals a sweet smell of peppers, vinegar and tomato. The sauce really tastes sweet and sour at the same time, and leaves a slight tangy feeling on the tongue. Really excellent with potato croquettes Kiss

No super sweet, sticky and smokey flavour but rather the type of sauce you could cook yourself at home with fresh and natural ingredients !

It's a really good surprise and I would be curious to taste their other sauces.

More info on Tiptree on http://www.tiptree.com

And thanks to Cha & Alyne for finding this one at Rob Gourmets’ Market (posh supermarket in Brussels) Wink

Ingredients:

Sugar, red and green peppers, honey, wine vinegar, onion, gelling agent: pectin, tomato puree, spices, salt, garlic, chilli, mustard powder
